Multiple running events are scheduled in the Jefferson County during the week ending May 8, providing opportunities for adult participants to compete in organized races and maintain an active lifestyle.

Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant were named Pair of the Year by Conference USA in postseason beach volleyball awards. Freshman Ava Grace Knott was selected to the second team after a record-setting season for UAB.
Samford softball will host UNCG this weekend in a key series that could decide the Southern Conference title. The Bulldogs need to sweep all three games to clinch first place ahead of postseason play.
Samford men’s tennis lost to Wisconsin in the NCAA Tournament’s opening round, ending their season at Mississippi State University. The Bulldogs made back-to-back tournament appearances for the first time in program history.
