The UAB beach volleyball team finished 2-2 at the Malibu Challenged this weekend hosted by Pepperdine.

UAB defeated San Francisco 3-2 and Cal State Northridge 4-1, but suffered a 5-0 loss to North Florida and a 4-1 loss to No. 17 Pepperdine.

Brooke Pertuit and Jasmine Haas went 3-1 on Court 1 and now have a record of 7-2 together. UAB’s top duo added another impressive win to their resume by defeating Pepperdine in straight sets. This was their second win over a nationally-ranked opponent (No. 19 South Carolina).

The Blazers (7-6) pushed Pepperdine to the brink as court two, three and four all went three sets, but Pepperdine was able to win them all. The decisive set on courts two and three finished with narrow scores of 15-13 in favor of the Wave.

UAB now turns its attention to hosting The March To May in Gulf Shores next weekend, March 17-19. While there, UAB will play Loyola Marymount, South Carolina, UCLA, Tulane, Georgia State and Mercer.
