Fentanyl Seized Western Jefferson County

On Monday, April 18, 2022, Detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a vehicle in the 3000 block of Bonds Avenue in Birmingham.  During the execution of the search warrant, detectives recovered 4 grams of fentanyl, over a pound of marijuana and other controlled substances.  A hand gun was also recovered from one of the offenders.  Inside the vehicle were Marlon McElroy and Corey Ware, Jr. and an unnamed juvenile.

McElroy was arrested for trafficking fentanyl, unlawful possession of marijuana 1st degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  He also had existing outstanding warrants, on which he was jailed.  His bonds totaled $100,500.00  Ware was charged with trafficking fentanyl, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana 2nd degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.  His bonds totaled $36,500.00.  The juvenile was released to a guardian at the scene.
