Samford University junior Gabi Nicastro set a new school record with a 10-under-par round of 62 on March 31, earning individual medalist honors and helping the Bulldogs secure second place at the ULM Invitational held at Bayou Desiard Country Club.

Nicastro’s performance led her to first place among 84 players, finishing with a total score of 13-under-par 203. Her final round score surpassed the previous school record of 65, which was set by Bailey Dunstan in 2024. The Bulldogs completed the three-round tournament with a team score of six-over-par 870, placing them second out of fourteen teams. Louisiana-Monroe won the event with a final score of 856.

Grace Engel also contributed to Samford’s strong showing by tying for sixth place after posting rounds of 67, 74, and 74 for a total score of one-under-par 215. Other notable performances included Kate Joyner tying for twenty-sixth at eight-over-par and Anika Richards tying for thirty-sixth at twelve-over-par. Anne Reaves Skinner finished tied for eightieth.

The ULM Invitational marked an important achievement for both Nicastro and the Samford women’s golf program as they continue their season. The next competition on their schedule is the GolfWeek/Stifel Spring Challenge from April 6 to April 8.
