Gary Palmer, U.S. Congressman representing Alabama’s 6th district since 2015, has recently used his social media platform to discuss regulatory reform, recognize athletic achievement, and highlight local business engagement.

On September 15, 2025, Palmer posted about upcoming legislative activity: “Outdated and burdensome regulations are stifling economic growth and sending American jobs overseas. Tomorrow at 2 PM ET, I’m chairing a @HouseCommerce Environment Subcommittee Hearing to examine permitting reform under the Clean Air Act. Tune in here: https://t.co/s7FtvIVrrR”.

The following day, on September 16, Palmer acknowledged a local athlete’s achievements: “Congratulations Ethan Strand, a middle-distance distance runner from Vestavia Hills, for representing the United States at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. I’m looking forward to seeing how he continues to represent the U.S. in the future and make Alabama proud! #AL06”.

Later that same day, Palmer reflected on his interaction with local business leaders: “I had the pleasure of speaking with members of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce this morning during their Washington, D.C. fly-in. Thank you for coming to D.C. to highlight the strength of Shelby County communities and the success of their businesses, which continue to set https://t.co/GxMOXWYe6T”.

Palmer was born in Hackleburg, Alabama in 1954 and currently resides in Hoover. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Before joining Congress in 2015—replacing Spencer Bachus—he built his career within Alabama’s public life.
