Gary Palmer, U.S. Congressman representing Alabama’s 6th district since 2015, used his social media platform this week to commemorate significant anniversaries and events, including the second anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel and the upcoming 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
On October 7, 2025, Palmer posted: “Today marks the second anniversary of the brutal and unprovoked attack on Israel by Hamas. As we remember this tragic day, I am thankful for the efforts of President Trump to bring the remaining hostages home and restore peace. The United States will always stand with Israel.”
A day later, on October 8, 2025, Palmer addressed veterans in his district: “This year marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. To honor and recognize the Veterans who served, my office is hosting a 50th Anniversary Pinning Ceremony on November 7th. Please register on my website for more information. https://t.co/H4NSKvzFTz” In a subsequent post made at nearly the same time, Palmer shared a direct link to more information: “https://t.co/m2kqm5S54o”.
Palmer, who was born in Hackleburg, Alabama in 1954 and currently resides in Hoover, has a long-standing connection to Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree. After replacing Spencer Bachus in Congress, he has continued to represent his district’s interests at the national level.
The anniversaries referenced by Palmer reflect ongoing concerns about international security and veteran recognition in U.S. political discourse.
