Gary Palmer, U.S. Congressman representing Alabama’s 6th district since 2015, posted a series of tweets on December 15, 2025, commemorating Alabama’s statehood anniversary and expressing condolences following a tragic incident at Brown University.
In a post marking the state’s history, Palmer wrote: “206 years ago, Alabama became the 22nd state. Happy birthday to the Yellowhammer State! https://t.co/HALXLwxpCH” (December 15, 2025).
Later that day, Palmer addressed a recent tragedy involving a shooting at Brown University. He stated: “Ann and I are heartbroken to hear about the passing of Ella Cook. By all accounts, she was a special young woman. Please join us in praying for the Ella’s family and all those impacted by the shooting at Brown University. https://t.co/WFKI4mPfH8” (December 15, 2025). Palmer has represented Alabama’s 6th district since replacing Spencer Bachus in Congress in 2015. Born in Hackleburg, Alabama in 1954 and currently residing in Hoover, he graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS degree in 1977.
