Gary Palmer, a U.S. Congressman representing Alabama’s 6th District since 2015, recently shared his views and experiences through a series of tweets. Born in Hackleburg, Alabama in 1954, Palmer graduated from the University of Alabama in 1977 and currently resides in Hoover.

On May 14, 2025, Palmer expressed his stance on government funding for abortions by stating “Taxpayer dollars should not be going towards abortions. Defund Planned Parenthood.”

Later that day, he acknowledged his colleagues’ birthday wishes during a House Commerce Committee markup session. He tweeted “Thank you to my colleagues for taking a moment during the @HouseCommerce markup to wish me a happy birthday after the clock struck midnight! Looking forward to another year serving the people of Alabama’s Sixth District.”

In another tweet on May 14, Palmer discussed recent efforts by Republicans on the House Commerce Committee regarding Medicaid reform. He stated “Republicans on @HouseCommerce just spent the past 26 hours marking up the ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’ and removing waste, fraud, and abuse to secure Medicaid for vulnerable populations and generations to come. Democrats spent that time defending: – 1.4 million illegal immigrants.”
