U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) has outlined the legislative achievements she says benefit Alabama during the first seven months of the 119th Congress. Senator Britt currently serves on several Senate committees, including Judiciary, Appropriations, Banking, and Rules.
“Each and every day in the Senate, I am fighting diligently for Alabamians. When I began this Congress, I was committed to securing our southern border, growing opportunity and prosperity for hardworking Americans, unleashing American energy dominance, restoring peace through strength, and putting our families back in the driver’s seat. While there is certainly more I hope to accomplish in our nation’s capital, I’m proud to have already delivered significant wins from moving the needle on child care accessibility and affordability, to strengthening interior immigration enforcement and supporting our law enforcement officers, to addressing our nation’s housing crisis and slashing bureaucratic red tape to help Alabamians achieve their American Dream. My promise to Alabama to be a tireless advocate and ensure our state has the best possible seat at the table remains steadfast. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue to deliver for our state,” said Senator Britt.
Britt highlighted her work as Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Appropriations. She said that border security and interior enforcement remain priorities aimed at protecting communities across Alabama.
She pointed out recent legislative milestones such as the Laken Riley Act being signed into law. Additionally, she noted efforts like restoring Tuskegee Airmen to Air Force course training programs and advocating for federal grant funding for civil rights history preservation in Alabama.
Senator Britt emphasized returning federal taxpayer dollars back to Alabama by supporting defense capabilities, rural health services, veterans’ programs, family farmers, law enforcement agencies, and local communities through appropriations bills passed by the Senate.
On housing issues, Britt cited her role as Chairman of the Housing, Transportation, and Community Development Subcommittee on Senate Banking. She mentioned advancing legislation focused on affordable housing access and support for homeless children and youth.
Britt also discussed progress on initiatives designed to support families—such as child care tax provisions signed into law—and measures addressing social media impacts on children along with public safety legislation like Lulu’s Law.
The senator reiterated her focus on improving infrastructure within Alabama by backing projects related to inland waterways modernization and upgrades at facilities such as Tuscaloosa’s National Water Center.
