For leading UAB to a 41-21 victory over North Texas on Saturday, running back DeWayne McBride and cornerback Devodric Bynum have been named the Conference USA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

McBride became the UAB single season record holder for rushing touchdowns on Saturday with three against the Mean Green, bringing his total to 17 for the season. McBride has five multi-rushing touchdown games this season and is one touchdown away from moving into second place on UAB’s career list and seven away from first place.

McBride also rushed for 120 yards, marking his 10th straight 100-yard game. He is leading the nation in rushing yards per game (156.3) and rushes of 20+ yards (17), while ranking second in rushing touchdowns (17) and total rushing yards (1,407), despite missing the first game of the season.

Bynum had a career day against the Mean Green with eight tackles, two TFL, two pass breakups, one sack and a forced fumble which was recovered by UAB in the red zone.

The senior helped UAB hold the league’s top-ranked offense to just 264 total yards, which was 239 under their season average.

Bynum is having the best season of his UAB career with 28 tackles, 4.5 TFL, one sack, one forced fumble and nine pass breakups.
