UAB softball player Olivia Cummings was named an American Conference Honorable Mention after her performance during a two-win week that helped the Blazers sweep East Carolina, according to a March 30 announcement.
This recognition highlights Cummings’ contributions to the team’s recent success. The honor comes after she played a key role in both games against East Carolina, demonstrating strong pitching and control on the mound.
Cummings started twice during the series, pitching a total of ten innings and allowing only two runs for a weekly earned run average of 1.40. She walked just one batter out of forty-three faced while playing in Greenville. In Friday night’s opener, she pitched six innings, gave up one run, struck out two batters, and threw only sixty-five pitches before Hannah Cole finished the game for UAB.
Cummings started again on Sunday, going four innings with four hits allowed and one run given up. She added another two strikeouts and earned her second win of the weekend.
The Blazers are scheduled to return home to Mary Bowers Field on Tuesday, March 31, where they will host Samford at 5 p.m., followed by a series against Memphis from Thursday through Saturday.
