Representative Gary Palmer (R-Birmingham) has responded to the House Oversight Committee’s report concerning the use of an autopen for executive actions in the Biden administration. In a statement released from Washington, D.C., Palmer addressed concerns raised by the committee’s findings.
“The findings of the Oversight Committee’s report are deeply troubling; those in President Biden’s inner circle were covering up his cognitive decline and certifying executive actions on his behalf,” said Rep. Palmer. “Not only did they use the autopen to make decisions on his behalf, but they deceived the American people into thinking President Biden was capable of making these decisions on his own. This is a dangerous breach of public trust, and the gravity of the situation demands a thorough investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice.”
Palmer also emphasized that transparency should not be influenced by party politics, stating, “Transparency is not a partisan issue. This is about preserving the integrity of the Office of the President and ensuring every executive action is legitimate. I fully support the Oversight Committee’s call to the U.S. Department of Justice to conduct a thorough review on President Biden’s executive actions and for the D.C. Board of Medicine to review the actions of President Biden’s physician.”
He concluded with a call for accountability: “Everyone involved in this scandal must be held accountable. The American people deserve to know who was really making the decisions in the White House.”
Gary Palmer has represented Alabama’s 6th Congressional District since 2015, after succeeding Spencer Bachus. He was born in Hackleburg, Alabama in 1954 and currently resides in Hoover. Palmer graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
