Prayer will play an important role at 2022 Annual Conference
0Comments

Prayer is always an essential part of the North Alabama Annual Conference meeting. This year, the first in-person gathering since 2019, the Conference Prayer Team has planned to make prayer opportunities visible and tangible to attendees. In fact, the Prayer Team has been in prayer for the Annual Conference meeting well in advance of the gathering date.

Before Annual Conference begins, the Prayer Team walks around the venue to pray. This annual Prayer Walk is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22. Participants will meet at the Information Table in the South Hall at 1 p.m. All are welcome to join the group as they pray at all the spaces to be used during Annual Conference.

Prayer team member Barbara Harris has volunteered to make sure there is always someone in the Prayer Chapel to pray with members and visitors to Annual Conference while business sessions and worship services are scheduled. Rev. Roger Short and other members of the Spiritual Formation Team are creating prayer stations in the vicinity of the Prayer Chapel. These may include private spaces for one-on-one prayer with a Prayer Team volunteer or self-guided prayer stations where people can participate in prayer experiences on their own using instructions and elements of prayer provided.

The Adult Discipleship Team will set up their canvas labyrinth in close proximity to the Prayer Chapel. Spiritual Formation Team members will be available to guide people unfamiliar with using a labyrinth. Printed guidelines will also be available. This labyrinth was purchased by the Adult Discipleship Team to be shared with local churches and ministry groups connected with the North Alabama Conference. Click here to request the labyrinth for your church or special event.

Annual Conference participants may visit the Prayer Chapel at any time during the Annual Conference meeting to pray, be anointed or leave a prayer request. Prayer request cards will be available at strategic spots around the Annual Conference venue. Prayer requests can also be emailed to prayer@umcna.org or shared on social media using the hashtag #umcna22prayer.
