The Renfro Trust Fund awards annual bricks-and-mortar grants to small rural United Methodist congregations in the Southeastern Jurisdiction. Churches in unusual or challenging situations for which insufficient funds are available from other local sources are eligible for the grants.

Grants, with the maximum amount of $5,000, are considered for projects involving new or existing church buildings. Repairs required to maintain the structural integrity or soundness of the church building may be included as part of a request. Major equipment directly related to the overall project may also be included.

Funds will not be awarded for parsonages, general maintenance on a church building or equipment. Grants for debt reduction will not be considered. Grants will be made to a church for the same project only one time.

Applications from churches located in towns of less than 10,000, villages or open country should be submitted through the Annual Conference Secretary for Global Ministries of the Conference in which you are located.

North Alabama congregations should submit their applications to North Alabama Conference Secretary for Global Ministries Rev. Dr. Adlene Kufarimai by email at akufarimai@umcna.org or by mail at 898 Arkadelphia Road, Birmingham, AL 35204.

For more information about the grant application and the Renfro guidelines that must be followed go to www.umcna.org/renfro.

The North Alabama Conference Application Deadline is August 1, 2022.
