Former Hoover High School basketball star Reniya Kelly and her North Carolina Tar Heels squad were defeated 63-42 by the UConn Huskies in the NCAA Tournament on Friday, March 27.
The matchup was held at Dickies Arena with tipoff at 5 p.m.
UAB Baseball secured an 11-2 victory over Memphis to clinch their first winning season since 2022. Key performances included strong pitching from Mason Steele and home runs by John Paul Head, Landon Beaver, and Andrew Hunt.
UAB Softball surrendered a six-run lead late against South Florida in its final home game of the season. Despite strong hitting early on, defensive errors contributed to a comeback win for South Florida.
The Samford baseball team won its Senior Day game against USC Upstate with a score of 9-6. Head coach Tony David praised his team’s response during key moments as they completed a series sweep.
