Washington D.C. – On May 16, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) released the following statement affirming that Huntsville is the best location for U.S. Space Command Headquarters:

“Both a GAO and Inspector General report confirmed that the Air Force used a merit-based process in its decision to locate U.S. Space Command headquarters in Huntsville. This conclusion was made under two separate administrations. Huntsville is without question the best home for Space Command.”

“The White House should immediately reconfirm Huntsville as the headquarters of Space Command. Surely, the Biden Administration would not allow politics to improperly influence this decision.

“To be clear, I am a strong supporter of women’s reproductive freedom and I remain fiercely opposed to Senator Tuberville’s dangerous and unprecedented hold on military promotions. Still, the decision to locate Space Command in Huntsville was based on merit, and the people of Alabama should not be punished for Senator Tuberville’s recklessness.”
