Rep. Terri A. Sewell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Alabama’s 7th district since 2011, recently shared updates and concerns on social media regarding her office’s activities and legislative developments.
On May 13, 2025, Rep. Sewell announced that her team would be available to assist constituents with federal agency issues in Perry County at the Albert Turner Sr. Courthouse Annex 1. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., where “Team Sewell is excited to see you there!”
Later that day, Rep. Sewell expressed concern over legislation proposed by House Republicans that could significantly impact social welfare programs. She stated, “Today, House Republicans are trying to jam through legislation that would kick millions of Americans off Medicaid, slash SNAP benefits, and let the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced tax credits expire.” She urged those affected by these programs to share their stories to aid her advocacy efforts.
In another post on the same day, Rep. Sewell addressed the impending consideration of former President Trump’s tax bill in the Ways and Means Committee. She highlighted its potential consequences by stating it “kicks 14 million people off their health care in order to give tax cuts to the wealthy.” Rep. Sewell affirmed that Democrats are prepared to contest this measure.
Terri Sewell was born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1965 and currently resides in Birmingham. She holds degrees from Princeton University (BA), St Hilda’s College at Oxford (MA), and Harvard University (JD).
