Rep. Terri A. Sewell, U.S. Congresswoman representing Alabama’s 7th district since 2011, posted several messages on her social media accounts this week addressing recent events and community initiatives.

On August 6, Sewell responded to a violent incident at a military base in Georgia, stating, “My heart goes out to the service members at Fort Stewart in Georgia in light of today’s horrific shooting. I’m grateful to the first responders and local law enforcement and praying for a full and speedy recovery for those who were injured. “

The following day, she used her platform to recognize veterans’ contributions: “I want to take a moment today to honor our veterans. These brave men and women have made extraordinary sacrifices for our nation, and we owe them an enormous debt of gratitude. #HonorOurVeterans https://t.co/OMwcHViGBH” (August 7).

Later on August 7, Sewell highlighted a local employment initiative: “This year’s job fair in Tuscaloosa was one of our best yet, with over 75 employers and hundreds of job seekers. Read more here!

Sewell has represented Alabama’s 7th District since replacing Artur Davis in 2011 and is noted for her longstanding commitment to public service ([source](https://sewell.house.gov/about/full-biography)). She was born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1965 and currently resides in Birmingham. Her educational background includes degrees from Princeton University, St Hilda’s College at Oxford University, and Harvard Law School.
