Rep. Terri A. Sewell, who represents Alabama’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing issues ranging from health care and voting rights to economic investment in her state.
On March 31, 2026, Rep. Sewell criticized Republican lawmakers and former President Donald Trump for proposed funding shifts impacting American health care, stating: “After taking health care from millions of Americans, Republicans are now proposing MORE cuts to fund Trump’s reckless war that is driving up prices and making us less safe. This president needs to get his priorities straight. Americans want health care NOT warfare!”
The following day, April 1, 2026, she addressed concerns about mail-in voting access after recent executive actions by President Trump: “Trump voted by mail just last week but doesn’t want you to have the same opportunity! This illegal executive order is another blatant attempt to steal the midterm elections by making it harder for Americans to vote. Rather than changing his failed policies, Trump is trying to”
Later on April 1, Sewell highlighted a significant business development in Alabama: “Team Sewell joined @MercedesBenz as they announced a $4 billion investment in their Tuscaloosa County plant and celebrated their five millionth vehicle built in our state! I applaud their commitment to the people of Alabama. Here’s to the next chapter of growth & innovation!”
Terri Sewell has served in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Artur Davis as representative for Alabama’s 7th district. Born in Huntsville in 1965 and currently residing in Birmingham at age 58, Sewell holds degrees from Princeton University (BA), St Hilda’s College at Oxford (MA), and Harvard Law School (JD).
