U.S. Representative Terri A. Sewell, who serves Alabama’s 7th district, has recently shared her perspectives and legislative activities on social media, addressing concerns about community engagement, rural communities, and voting rights.
On September 8, 2025, Sewell posted about her ongoing efforts to connect with constituents: “Hearing directly from the people I represent is what our Congress in Your Community tour is all about!”
The following day, she expressed concern over the potential impact of proposed legislation on less urbanized areas: “Our rural communities will be hit hardest by Trump’s Big Ugly Bill.” This statement reflects broader debates in Congress over how national policy changes could disproportionately affect rural populations.
Later on September 9, Sewell addressed issues related to electoral fairness and minority representation. She wrote: “Trump and his enablers are trying to rig the next election by redrawing congressional maps and diluting the power of Black and minority voters. I joined my colleagues of @TheBlackCaucus to speak out against their authoritarian power grab.”
Sewell has represented Alabama’s 7th district since 2011 after succeeding Artur Davis. She was born in Huntsville in 1965 and currently resides in Birmingham. Her academic background includes a BA from Princeton University (1986), an MA from St Hilda’s College, Oxford, and a JD from Harvard University (1992).
