U.S. Representative Terri A. Sewell, who has served Alabama’s 7th District since 2011, posted several updates on her official Twitter account this week, addressing local weather threats, constituent services, and concerns over legislative actions in Alabama.
On May 6, Sewell alerted her constituents to severe weather conditions: “My team is closely monitoring the severe weather threat in Alabama. Please stay safe and alert!”
The following day, she highlighted her team’s efforts to support local residents during outreach events: “Team Sewell was proud to help constituents with their federal needs during our Mobile Office Hours at the Birmingham Public Library!” (May 7).
On May 8, Sewell addressed recent legislative developments in Alabama in a media interview: “I spoke with @NPR’s @hereandnow about the scheme by Alabama lawmakers to erase Black representation and take us back to the Jim Crow era.”
Sewell, born in Huntsville in 1965 and currently residing in Birmingham, has built a career focused on public service and advocacy for her district. She holds degrees from Princeton University (BA), St Hilda’s College, Oxford (MA), and Harvard Law School (JD). As the representative for Alabama’s 7th District since succeeding Artur Davis in 2011, Sewell has emphasized constituent engagement and voiced concerns about policies affecting civil rights.
