Rep. Terri A. Sewell, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Alabama’s 7th district since 2011, recently shared a series of tweets highlighting her upcoming community engagements and honoring historical figures during Black History Month.

On February 17, Rep. Sewell announced an event as part of her “Congress in Your Community Tour” with a town hall meeting scheduled to take place in Tuscaloosa at the McDonald Hughes Community Center on Thursday at 5 PM. She invited the public to join her by stating, “THURSDAY: We’re bringing our Congress in Your Community Tour to Tuscaloosa! Join me for a town hall meeting at the McDonald Hughes Community Center at 5 PM.”

The following day, on February 18, she paid tribute to JoAnne Bland, a significant figure from the Civil Rights Movement. In her tweet, she noted that Bland was jailed at age eight for participating in the movement and currently provides educational tours of Selma. Rep. Sewell remarked on this occasion by tweeting, “Today we honor Foot Soldier JoAnne Bland… helping to educate the next generation on how Selma changed the world.”

Later that day, Rep. Sewell also announced another community engagement focused on discussing potential impacts of proposed cuts by the Trump Administration on essential services such as housing and healthcare. The roundtable is set for Thursday at 5 PM at the same location as the town hall meeting. She stated via Twitter, “On Thursday, I’m hosting a community roundtable in Tuscaloosa to discuss the impacts of the Trump Administration’s proposed cuts…”
