Rep. Terri A. Sewell, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Alabama’s 7th district since 2011, has recently shared several notable reflections and personal achievements on her social media platform. The tweets commemorate significant historical figures and events while also acknowledging her own recognition by a local fraternity.

On February 2, 2025, Rep. Sewell paid tribute to Ms. Amelia Boynton Robinson, who was a key figure during the civil rights movement. In her tweet, she stated: “Today we honor Ms. Amelia Boynton Robinson. She was beaten unconscious on Bloody Sunday in Selma for the equal right of all Americans to vote! At age 103, she was my special guest to President Obama’s 2015 State of the Union Address.”

Later that day, Rep. Sewell expressed gratitude for being recognized by her community when she tweeted: “To be recognized by your hometown folks means so much. I was truly honored and humbled to be named Citizen of the Year by the Omega Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated!”

The following day, on February 3, 2025, she celebrated Carl Lewis’s accomplishments in athletics with a post stating: “Carl Lewis, a Birmingham native, won 9 Olympic gold medals from 1979 to 1996 and was even named ‘Sportsman of the Century’ by the International Olympic Committee. He remains unparalleled in his field, and his 1984 indoor long jump record still stands today!”
