Rep. Terri A. Sewell, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Alabama’s 7th district, has recently taken to social media to engage with her constituents on various topics. Born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1965 and now residing in Birmingham, Sewell has been a congressional representative since replacing Artur Davis in 2011.

On May 5, 2025, Rep. Sewell reached out to her followers asking if they or their families have been affected by cuts to federal services and programs under the Trump Administration. She invited them to share their stories through a provided link: “Have you or your family been impacted by the Trump Administration’s cuts to federal services and programs? I want to hear from you!”

The following day, May 6, 2025, she expressed gratitude towards educators on Teacher Appreciation Day. She acknowledged the influence of teachers in her life, particularly her parents who taught at Selma City Schools: “I wouldn’t be where I am today without the influence of so many amazing educators including my mom and dad who both taught in Selma City Schools.” She encouraged others to thank teachers for their dedication.

Later that same day, Sewell commemorated Willie Mays’ birthday with a brief tribute recognizing his legacy as an Alabama icon and baseball legend: “Happy heavenly birthday to Alabama icon and baseball legend Willie Mays.”
