Rep. Terri A. Sewell, who represents Alabama’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to discuss meetings and legislative initiatives focused on justice, constitutional amendments, and healthcare policy.
On July 21, 2025, Sewell posted about a recent meeting with a prominent civil rights leader: “Great meeting with the new Interim President and CEO of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Bryan Fair. I look forward to working together to promote equality and justice!”
The following day, Sewell announced her support for a constitutional amendment related to presidential immunity from criminal prosecution. On July 22, 2025, she wrote: “NEWS: I’m cosponsoring an amendment to the Constitution that would reverse the Supreme Court’s egregious decision to make the president immune from criminal prosecution. Because in America, we are not ruled by a king!”
Later that same day, Sewell addressed changes in federal health care policy: “Trump and Congressional Republicans have made the largest cut to health care in our nation’s history.”
Sewell has represented Alabama’s 7th District since 2011 after succeeding Artur Davis. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1965 and currently resides in Birmingham at age 58. Her educational background includes degrees from Princeton University (BA), St Hilda’s College at Oxford (MA), and Harvard University (JD).
