U.S. Representative Terri A. Sewell, who has represented Alabama’s 7th District since 2011, shared a series of updates on April 1, 2026, highlighting developments in industry, healthcare, and space exploration relevant to her constituents.
On the economic front, Sewell noted her participation in an event with Mercedes-Benz: “Team Sewell joined @MercedesBenz as they announced a $4 billion investment in their Tuscaloosa County plant and celebrated their five millionth vehicle built in our state! I applaud their commitment to the people of Alabama. Here’s to the next chapter of growth & innovation!” (April 1, 2026).
Addressing healthcare challenges in rural Alabama, Sewell announced new legislative efforts: “I just introduced the Save Struggling Hospitals Act alongside @RepDavidKustoff. Alabama has endured some of the most devastating hospital closures in the nation. Our bill fixes the way Medicare reimburses rural hospitals, ensuring they remain OPEN and available to patients!” (April 1, 2026).
Sewell also commented on national achievements tied to local contributions: “Excitedly awaiting NASA’s Artemis II launch! For the first time in 53 years, the U.S. will be returning to the moon thanks to the hard work of so many Americans, including Alabamians at the Marshall Space Flight Center. Praying for a safe journey for our brave astronauts!” (April 1, 2026).
Sewell is currently serving her district from Birmingham and was born in Huntsville in 1965. She holds degrees from Princeton University, St Hilda’s College at Oxford University, and Harvard Law School.
