Rep. Terri A. Sewell, who has represented Alabama’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2011, shared a series of updates on her official Twitter account on August 1, 2025, highlighting recent community events and economic concerns.

On August 1, Rep. Sewell posted about a local employment initiative: “We had an AMAZING turnout for our 14th annual job fair in Tuscaloosa! Thanks to the hundreds of job seekers and numerous employers who joined us. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to host events like this and bring better opportunities directly to the people of our district.” (August 1, 2025)

Later that day, she addressed national economic issues following the release of new labor statistics: “Today’s jobs report paints a deeply troubling picture of where our economy is headed. Job growth is the worst since COVID. Unemployment is rising. Costs are surging. Small businesses are struggling. Trump’s reckless economic policies are making it harder and harder for families” (August 1, 2025)

In another post on August 1, Rep. Sewell announced federal investment in local infrastructure: “Great news! The Delta Regional Authority is investing $3 million to improve water infrastructure in Perry County and the Town of Carrollton! I will continue fighting to bring federal dollars to the Black Belt to address our water and sewer needs.” (August 1, 2025)

Rep. Sewell has served Alabama’s 7th District since replacing Artur Davis in Congress in 2011 and is currently based in Birmingham after being born in Huntsville in 1965. She holds degrees from Princeton University, St Hilda’s College at Oxford University, and Harvard Law School.
