Rep. Terri A. Sewell, who represents Alabama’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared updates on social media about local events and national political developments.
On October 13, 2025, Sewell posted, “Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! Today we celebrate the Native communities and tribal nations whose rich culture, history, and contributions have shaped our country.”
The following day, she highlighted a significant educational milestone in Alabama, stating on October 14, 2025, “Great day for the Black Belt!! I was thrilled to participate in the groundbreaking of the new Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences in Demopolis! It will become the fourth state-supported residential high school in Alabama and will be dedicated to training the next generation of”.
Addressing national politics, Sewell commented on October 15, 2025, “Day 15 of the Republican shutdown. House Democrats are HERE ready to negotiate to save health care and reopen government. House Republicans are on their fourth week of vacation.”
Sewell has served in Congress since 2011, succeeding Artur Davis as the representative for Alabama’s 7th district. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1965 and currently resides in Birmingham. Her educational background includes a BA from Princeton University, an MA from St Hilda’s College, Oxford, and a JD from Harvard University.
