Rep. Terri A. Sewell, a U.S. Congress member representing Alabama’s 7th district since 2011, recently shared her thoughts on several significant events through a series of tweets. Sewell, who was born in Huntsville, Alabama, and currently resides in Birmingham, has an extensive educational background with degrees from Princeton University, St Hilda’s College at Oxford, and Harvard University.

On January 27, 2025, Rep. Sewell marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by acknowledging the Holocaust’s victims and emphasizing the need to combat antisemitism and hatred. She stated: “As we observe 80 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp, we pause to remember the millions of Jews and others who were killed during the Holocaust. We must continue to stand united against antisemitism, bigotry, and hatred in all its forms.”

Later that day, she addressed an educational development regarding World War II history: “My statement on the reinstatement of the Tuskegee Airmen in the Air Force curriculum.” This tweet reflects her engagement with historical education initiatives.

In another post on January 27th, Rep. Sewell celebrated a personal achievement for a notable Alabamian figure: “So excited to see Alabama’s own Attorney Fred Gray honored with an official portrait at the Smithsonian! Grateful for his lifelong work in the pursuit of justice and equality for all. A true American hero!” Her words express appreciation for Fred Gray’s contributions to justice and equality.
