On June 14, 2025, Rep. Sewell expressed her deep sorrow over a violent incident involving Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and Sen. John Hoffman, along with their spouses. She stated “I am horrified and heartbroken by the targeted shootings of Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and Sen. John Hoffman and his wife.” She further emphasized that “Political violence has NO place in the United States of America.”

The following day, June 15, 2025, she paid tribute to her late father with a heartfelt message on Father’s Day: “Happy Heavenly Father’s Day to my dad Coach Andrew A. Sewell! RIP”

On June 16, 2025, Rep. Sewell highlighted a significant development for the residents of Moundville due to federal funding secured in the 2023 budget: “Thanks to funding we secured in the 2023 federal budget, the residents of Moundville have a brand new storm shelter to keep them safe during severe weather!” She mentioned having toured the facility herself.
