Former Vestavia Hills High School standout Ryan Vermillion pitched for the Samford Bulldogs as they edged out the North Alabama Lions, 6-5, on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 4 p.m. in NCAA Division I baseball action.

The matchup, hosted at Joe Lee Griffin Field, marked the first meeting between the teams this season.

Vermillion pitched two innings, allowing two earned runs, with two walks and four strikeouts.

The Bulldogs are set to face the Bowling Green Falcons next on Friday, Feb. 27, at 4 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
