On Friday, Feb. 27, Sam Youngblood, a former McAdory High School basketball standout, saw action during the Union Bulldogs’ 89-81 defeat to the Lee Flames.
The 6-foot-4 graduate guard tallied 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 32 minutes on the floor.
The upcoming week starting Monday, April 27 will feature these former Jefferson County area high school athletes.
Jasmine Dereje set a new school record for UAB in the women’s 400-meter hurdles at LSU Alumni Gold. Other athletes also posted personal bests as UAB prepares for its next meet.
The UAB Blazers softball team lost to South Florida, falling behind early and unable to recover offensively. Ashlyn Shirah hit her eighth home run of the season but it was not enough for victory. The teams will meet again tomorrow for Senior Day.
