The Samford men’s golf team is in eighth place after the second round of the Southern Conference Championship, according to an April 28 report from the university. The tournament is being held at Solina Golf Club.
This standing comes as Samford recorded a two-round total score of 20-over-par 588, with rounds of 283 and 305. Chattanooga leads the event with a combined score of 565.
Individually, Gavin Isbell is tied for sixth place out of forty competitors, finishing two rounds at one-under-par with scores of 68 and 73. Campbell Sciortino stands tied for fourteenth at three-over-par (68-77), while Blake Gayles is tied for twentieth at four-over-par (72-74). Jack Mikesell and Matthew Smith are further down the leaderboard, sitting in thirty-sixth and thirty-ninth places respectively.
The championship will conclude on Wednesday with a third and final round. Tee times begin at 9:30 a.m. Central Time. Fans can follow live results online through links provided by Samford Athletics.
