U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) issued a statement following the Senate’s confirmation of Edmund “Eddie” LaCour as a district judge for the Northern District of Alabama. The confirmation vote in the Senate was 51-47.
LaCour, who previously served as Alabama’s Solicitor General, has represented the state in various federal court cases. He is admitted to practice before all circuit courts of appeals in the United States and has filed over 100 briefs with the Supreme Court, where he has argued three cases.
“Today, the Senate confirmed Eddie LaCour to fill Alabama’s third federal district court vacancy. Most recently, LaCour served our great state as Solicitor General, representing Alabama in a host of litigation in federal courts. He is admitted to practice before every circuit court of appeals in our nation, as well as the Supreme Court where he has filed more than 100 briefs and argued three cases. His legal acumen is unparalleled, and I have every confidence he will serve the Northern District exceptionally. I’m proud to see a fellow native of the Wiregrass serve Alabama and our country on the federal bench. I’m also grateful to have worked side-by-side with Senator Tuberville to see three exceptional nominees confirmed as federal judges and to President Trump for his support,” said Britt.
Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Eddie LaCour, and members of LaCour’s family attended his nomination hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 3, 2025.
