Senator Katie Boyd Britt recently addressed several important topics through her social media platform. On June 20, 2025, she shared her thoughts on a community loss, the state of children’s nutrition in America, and an educational initiative at Tuskegee University.

In a tweet posted on June 20, Senator Britt expressed condolences for Chairman Reed’s family during their time of grief. She stated, “Please join me in keeping Chairman Reed’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. This is a profound loss for the community and our state.”

Later that day, Senator Britt highlighted concerns regarding children’s nutrition. She tweeted on June 20 that “70% of children’s calories come from ultra-processed foods, and half of American children don’t eat a daily fruit or vegetable.” She emphasized the urgency to address what she described as “the health crisis facing our nation head-on.”

Additionally, Senator Britt commended Tuskegee University’s contributions to aviation excellence and innovation. In her tweet on June 20, she remarked that “.@TuskegeeUniv has cemented itself as the past, present, and future of aviation excellence and innovation.” She also expressed her commitment to supporting the growth and success of the university’s new degree program.

Chairman Reed was known for his leadership within his community before his passing.
