Senator Katie Boyd Britt commented on September 2, 2025, regarding the relocation of U.S. Space Command headquarters to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Britt discussed the decision and its implications for both Alabama and national security.

In her first post at 19:20 UTC, Senator Britt stated, “Redstone Arsenal was always the best choice for @US_SpaceCom Headquarters. Today, the Air Force’s merit-based decision is finally being honored.

Read my op-ed in the @wsj where I explain how @POTUS removed politics from this process, and how this move benefits not only Alabama,”.

Later that day at 19:41 UTC, she added “The decision to move @US_SpaceCom headquarters to Huntsville is a win for Alabama and for America’s national security.  My full statement “.

In a subsequent post at 19:52 UTC, Senator Britt wrote “WATCH: Space Command is headed to its rightful home, and America’s national security will benefit.

Thank you @POTUS and @SecDef for reversing course on Biden’s politicization by bringing merit back to the selection process.”

The selection of Redstone Arsenal as U.S. Space Command’s new headquarters comes after an extended period of debate and review over the most suitable location for the command. The decision had previously been subject to political scrutiny but was ultimately determined through what officials have described as a merit-based evaluation by the U.S. Air Force.

Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville has long been recognized as a significant hub for military operations and aerospace development within Alabama.
