Senator Katie Boyd Britt, a U.S. Senator from Alabama, addressed the Senate floor on September 10, 2025, criticizing Senate Democrats for what she described as ongoing obstruction of Republican presidential nominations and other legislative actions.
In a post dated September 10, 2025, Britt stated: “Senate Democrats have been slowing down Republican Presidential nominations since 2003. Today, I recounted the history on the Senate floor and how Democrats’ delay tactics have only increased. This obstruction is nothing new—now, Senate Republicans are doing something about”.
Later that day, Britt continued her criticism by highlighting recent developments regarding judicial appointments: “Senate Democrats continue to prove their partisan, obstructionist games are far more important to them than the safety and security of Americans. Their latest move? Blocking 10 highly-qualified U.S. attorney nominees with bipartisan support from serving their communities. Our” (September 10, 2025).
In a separate engagement unrelated to her comments on Senate procedures, Britt also met with members of the Alabama Bankers Association: “Enjoyed meeting with @ALBankers! I’ll always work to ensure Alabama’s local banks can continue serving families, supporting small businesses, and strengthening communities across our state.” (September 10, 2025).
The debate over confirmation delays has been an ongoing issue in the U.S. Senate for decades. Partisan disputes over judicial and executive branch nominations have frequently led to procedural standoffs and filibusters in both Democratic- and Republican-led Senates.
