U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) has played a role in advancing the Fiscal Year 2026 Department of Defense Appropriations Act, which includes more than $851.9 billion in discretionary spending aimed at strengthening U.S. defense capabilities.

“I’m honored to showcase Alabama’s world-class defense capabilities across our nation and the globe, and to continue fighting to ensure our defense systems are fully modernized to combat 21st-century threats. It’s critical the United States remains a global leader through a warfighter that is unmatched in lethality, readiness, and technological superiority—these strategic investments are vital to accomplishing this goal. I remain committed to strengthening our national security, supporting our outstanding servicemembers, and safeguarding the future of our nation,” said Senator Britt.

The legislation supports program increases and priorities that focus on Alabama’s defense sector. These measures are expected to promote growth in manufacturing, workforce development, and technological advancement throughout the state while reinforcing national defense.

Key provisions in the bill include a 3.8% pay raise for all service members and an additional 10% pay increase for junior enlisted personnel. The act allocates $302.8 billion for operations sustainment, weapons procurement, training initiatives, and readiness activities. Additionally, $5.3 billion is set aside for security cooperation programs designed to support vulnerable partners as part of U.S. national security interests.

Funding also extends to international partnerships; $500 million is designated for Israel Cooperative Programs such as Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrow missile defense systems. The bill provides $75 million for counter-drone collaboration with Israel, $47.5 million for joint work on emerging technologies, and $80 million dedicated to anti-tunneling efforts with Israel.
