U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) has joined Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and other Republican senators in introducing a resolution to designate October 5-11, 2025, as “Religious Education Week.” The resolution aims to highlight the role of religion in American society and acknowledges the efforts of schools, churches, and organizations that provide religious education to students.
“It’s truly a blessing that so many children across our country are able to attend schools where they can deepen their faith alongside their other studies. Safeguarding religious education and religious freedom is fundamental to our core American values,” said Senator Britt. “During this Religious Education Week, I applaud all schools, churches, teachers, and families who make faith-based learning possible.”
The list of cosponsors includes Senators Jim Banks (R-Ind.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), John Curtis (R-Utah), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), John Kennedy (R-La.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), Ashley Moody (R-Fla.), James Risch (R-Idaho), Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Todd Young (R-Ind.).
The resolution has received endorsements from several organizations including the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty, Agudath Israel of America, Coalition for Jewish Values, Foundation for American Christian Education, School Time Bible Ministries, Association of Christian Schools International, and Catholic Education Partners Inc.
Senator Britt has made religious freedom and education a legislative priority in her work in Congress. She previously cosponsored similar legislation during the 118th Congress.
