Representative Terri A. Sewell, serving Alabama’s 7th district since replacing Artur Davis in 2011, made several contributions to social media platforms, highlighting various issues and personal reflections on May 1, 2025.
On the occasion of National Day of Prayer, Sewell expressed her sentiments by sharing one of her preferred biblical quotes. She cited Micah 6:8, highlighting a moral teaching: “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
In another message later that day, Sewell sent an encouraging note to activists in Tuscaloosa, emphasizing the importance of making their voices heard: “My message to those who are standing up and making your voices heard in Tuscaloosa today.”
Sewell also addressed a political issue, responding to President Trump’s visit to Alabama. She questioned the decision to eliminate a significant grant intended to aid Birmingham City Schools in hiring mental health professionals, stating: “Our communities are in dire need of this funding. They deserve answers.”
Sewell, born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1965, currently resides in Birmingham. She holds degrees from Princeton University, St. Hilda’s College, Oxford, and Harvard University.
