Cost of college went down for all students at the Fortis Institute-Birmingham

Tuition and fees fell 6.4 percent for 2018-19 at the Fortis Institute-Birmingham, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Alabama students paid $13,317 to attend the two-year private for-profit institution this year – $903 less than the $14,220 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 46 students received grants or scholarships totaling $267,910 and 42 students took out student loans totaling more than $357,705.

Including all undergraduates (383), 382 students used grants or scholarships totaling $1.7 million, and 306 students took out $2.3 million in federal student loans.
