U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) has secured $3 million for the University of North Alabama in the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act. The Senate Appropriations Committee advanced the legislation yesterday, and it now awaits consideration by the full Senate.

The University of North Alabama plans to use the funds to expand its Joel R. Anderson Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Studies. The Center provides space, resources, and mentorship to students and local businesses aiming to start or grow their ventures.

"The University of North Alabama is investing in their students’ future as business owners, innovators, and entrepreneurs," said Senator Britt. "The positive impact of this funding would reach far outside the Shoals. Elevating the Joel R. Anderson Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Studies is a strategic investment into Alabama’s and America’s future—the students who will grow our economy, create good-paying jobs, and develop the products and technologies of tomorrow."
