U.S. Senator Katie Britt recently appeared on the 13th & Park podcast, hosted by Adam Goodman, to discuss her priorities for the upcoming Trump Administration and her legislative efforts in the Senate. During the conversation, she emphasized her commitment to Alabama and the nation, stating, "I love my state, I believe in my state, I love this nation. Every bit of that is worth fighting for."
Senator Britt outlined expectations for President Donald J. Trump's return to office and Republican majorities in Congress. She said, "...On day one, you’re going to see President Trump come in. He is going to undo so many of the harmful policies and positions that Joe Biden has put in place." Britt also expressed confidence that Trump would restore America's global standing: "We’ve got to go back to a place where our allies respect us and our enemies fear us."
A key focus for Senator Britt is securing the southern border with conservative solutions alongside President Trump and Congressional Republicans. She remarked on the importance of law enforcement at the border: ". . . We are clearly a nation of immigrants. We are also a nation of laws."
In addition to border security, Senator Britt discussed bipartisan efforts with Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) on mental health legislation through their Stop the Scroll Act. This bill aims to require social media platforms to include mental health warning labels as recommended by Surgeon General Dr. Vivek H. Murthy.
Britt stressed that mental health concerns transcend political lines: "Not only is this not a Democrat or Republican issue, it’s an American issue." She emphasized collaboration across party lines for meaningful change: ". . . There are opportunities, and there are many of us who see each other as people."
