Representative Gary Palmer has announced the winners of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for Alabama's Sixth Congressional District. The winning team, composed of Harsha Bheemanathini, Monisha Bommu, Harini Chakilam, and Greeshma Vinoy from the Alabama School of Fine Arts, developed an app titled "Cent-sation."

The competition encourages middle and high school students to enhance their skills in computer coding, math, science, and related fields by creating original applications. This year's winning app aims to assist individuals in staying financially organized and learning budgeting skills as they transition from school to adulthood. Features of the app include a progress bar, customizable category options, and a notes section.

Rep. Palmer expressed his admiration for the students' work: "I'm very impressed with Harsha, Monisha, Harini, and Greeshma's work for the App Challenge," he said. "They are incredibly talented and have created something valuable to help students learn how to budget as they prepare for college and adulthood."

In recognition of their achievement, the students will receive certificates from Rep. Palmer and will have the opportunity to present their app at a coding fair in Washington, D.C., in the spring.
