U.S. Representative Terri A. Sewell, who has represented Alabama’s 7th District in Congress since 2011, recently shared a series of posts on her official Twitter account addressing local law enforcement achievements and national economic and political issues.
On August 25, Sewell recognized the efforts of law enforcement in Jefferson County, stating: “Congratulations to the 71st Session of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Academy! #AL07 is better off for their service!
While there, Team Sewell presented a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of AL’s success at the 2025 World Police and Fire Games.” (Posted August 25, 2025)
The following day, she commented on reports regarding Dr. Lisa Cook’s tenure at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors amid attempts by former President Trump to remove her. On August 26, Sewell posted: “Dr. Lisa Cook is a distinguished economist who has broken down barriers as the first Black woman to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. It is outrageous that President Trump would attempt to fire her without producing a shred of evidence of wrongdoing.
This is not” (Posted August 26, 2025)
Later that day, she addressed economic concerns related to recent tariff policies: “From school supplies to grocery items, families are feeling the effects of Trump’s reckless tariffs and economic policies as they send their children back to school.
Life is only getting more expensive in Trump’s America. Our families deserve better.” (Posted August 26, 2025)
Sewell has held her congressional seat since succeeding Artur Davis in 2011 and currently resides in Birmingham after being born in Huntsville in 1965. She holds degrees from Princeton University, St Hilda’s College at Oxford, and Harvard Law School.
