Rep. Terri A. Sewell, a U.S. Congress member representing Alabama’s 7th district since 2011, recently shared several updates via social media. Sewell, who was born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1965 and currently resides in Birmingham, is known for her active engagement with constituents and legislative efforts.

On July 6, 2025, Rep. Sewell announced that “Team Sewell is bringing our mobile office to Bessemer and Grove Hill in July!” She noted that members of her staff would be available to assist with federal needs and expressed hope to see community members at these events.

The following day, on July 7, 2025, she addressed an issue regarding the commemoration of officers involved in the January 6th events at the U.S. Capitol. She stated that “Three years ago, Congress voted to honor the brave officers who defended our democracy on January 6th with a memorial plaque in the U.S. Capitol.” However, she criticized Speaker Johnson for refusing to install it and declared her intention to hang a replica outside her office as a stand against erasing their heroism.

On July 8, 2025, Rep. Sewell invited constituents to participate in an upcoming event by announcing “NEW: I’m hosting a Small Business Roundtable in Tuscaloosa this Friday!” The roundtable aims to discuss the impact of tariffs on the local economy and provides an opportunity for community engagement.

Terri Sewell holds degrees from Princeton University (BA), St Hilda’s College at Oxford (MA), and Harvard University (JD). Her educational background supports her extensive career in public service.
