Terri Sewell convenes emergency town hall amid ongoing legislative challenges

Rep. Terri A. Sewell, a U.S. Congress member representing Alabama’s 7th district since 2011, has been active on social media addressing various issues and celebrating significant cultural figures. On February 8, 2025, Rep. Sewell announced an “Emergency Telephone Town Hall” scheduled for February 11th at 6:30 PM. The event will focus on how Democrats are “legislating, litigating, and mobilizing to fight back against the lawless actions of this administration.” She invited constituents to sign up for the call.

In another post dated February 8, 2025, she paid tribute to “Alabama’s own Gee’s Bend Quilters.” She acknowledged their historical impact and celebrated their role in achieving economic independence through quilting during the 20th century as part of Black History Month celebrations.

On February 10, 2025, Rep. Sewell recognized Olympian Jesse Owens in a tweet describing him as “perhaps the greatest and most famous athlete in track and field history.” She highlighted his achievement of winning four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games and noted his significant triumph in challenging Hitler’s myth of white supremacy.
