Two members of the Samford track and field teams were recognized with Southern Conference Athlete of the Week awards, according to an April 29 announcement from the league.

The awards highlight achievements by Arthur Chitty and Dorsey Parker in recent competitions. The recognition underscores their performances at the Josh Reidinger Classic, where both athletes achieved leading marks within the conference.

Arthur Chitty was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after clearing a season-best height of 2.12 meters in the high jump. This performance not only leads all competitors in the conference but also places him 29th in the NCAA East Region. Dorsey Parker earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors by recording a personal-best jump of 1.74 meters, which currently stands as the top mark among conference athletes.

Looking ahead, Samford is scheduled to compete at the Maroon and White Tuneup during the weekend of May 1.
