UAB men’s basketball head coach Andy Kennedy announced on Apr. 26 the addition of transfer guard Deuce Jones from Saint Joseph’s to the team.
The announcement highlights the team’s efforts to strengthen its roster ahead of the upcoming season. Jones brings experience and proven performance at both the collegiate and high school levels.
“Pumped to have Deuce Jones join Blazer Basketball,” Kennedy said. “Deuce is a very talented guard who’s experience in the A10 will enable him to come to our program & make an immediate impact. Deuce is an explosive scorer who can also facilitate & create opportunities for his teammates with his playmaking abilities with the ball. A dynamic athlete who is just scratching the surface of what we believe he is capable of becoming”.
Jones, a 6-foot-2 guard from Trenton, New Jersey, spent last season at Saint Joseph’s where he appeared in 10 games and averaged 15.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game. Before that, he played for La Salle during the 2024–25 season, making appearances in all 33 games with averages of 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
During his time at La Salle, Jones earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors seven times and raised his scoring average to 14.3 points per game during conference play. He reached double figures in scoring in twenty contests and scored more than twenty points seven times—including a career-high of twenty-seven against Saint Joseph’s on March eighth.
At high school level, Jones played at College Achieve Charter and St. Thomas Aquinas where he surpassed one thousand career points.
Jones becomes UAB’s sixth addition for its signing class alongside Jakobi Sharp, Korie Corbett, Tim Holliday, Shah Hall, and Jeremy Elyzee.
