The UAB men’s golf team was in fifth place at 9-under par after two rounds of the American Athletic Conference Championship, according to an April 28 update. The Blazers posted scores of 282 and 285 for a total of 567 (-9), remaining within reach of the top teams as they head into Wednesday’s final round.
This position is important because it keeps UAB in contention for both the team title and individual honors. The final round will determine the overall champion as well as the individual medalist, with all teams looking to finish strong.
Alvaro Huidobro led UAB individually, tied for eighth at six under par (138) after recording rounds of 68 and 70. Erik Olin was tied for thirteenth at four under (140), while Morgan Slaton finished even par through two days, tied for nineteenth. Alejandro Fierro stood at plus two (146) and Patrick Delaney at plus four (148).
The Blazers have maintained their good form from earlier in the spring season and are aiming to improve their standing during the last day of play. The team’s tee times on Wednesday morning begin with Morgan Slaton at 8:30 a.m., followed by Alejandro Fierro, Patrick Delaney, Erik Olin, and Alvaro Huidobro every eleven minutes.
Wednesday’s final round will be streamed live on ESPN+, giving fans an opportunity to follow both team and individual performances as UAB seeks a strong finish.
